About "Technical Maintenance of Aviation Transport" Programme

Aviation transport is one of the most complex types of transport branch based on the most advanced achievements of science and engineering. Technicians are the most numerous and that is why the most demanded part of the staff providing the admission of aircraft to flying operation.

The programme provides a basic training of aviation specialists-professionals for the following professions: Aircraft Maintenance Technician Mechanic (Category В1) and Aircraft Maintenance Avionics Technician (Category В2) that is a necessary condition of the further training in the European centers by types of the specific aeronautical engineering and obtaining of the license for the aircraft technical maintenance in any airport of Europe and the world.

Training is conducted according to the special modules, which content is regulated by the requirements to the aviation specialists training of the European standard. The content of subjects (modules) is unified - it is defined by the European Commission Regulation (EC) Nr. 2042/2003 (of 23 November 2003) with the aim of maintaining the flying validity of aircraft and aeronavigation products, parts and devices, and the establishing the organizations and staff involved in the fulfillment of these tasks.

Training of technicians certified by the European requirements according to the European Commission Regulation (EC) Nr. 2042/2003 is especially important task in connection both with the increase of amount of transportations from the Riga Airport and other Latvian airports and with the need in the certified specialists in the neighboring countries of the Eastern region.

Academic Programme General Characteristics

The programme is realized by the Faculty of Management Science, Economics and Transport on the basis of the License of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Latvian Republic N 04038-19 of 16 July 2008. The programme meets the Latvian Classifier of Professions (code - 41525 05) and the International Standard Classification of Education ISCED - 97 (level - 5В). The programme is accredited by Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia until 31.12.2015, Accreditation Certificate of Education Programme Nr. 032-1698, 30.06.2009.
